• To inspire students to become responsible champions of gender justice.

Objective

The objective of the Gender Champion Cell is to promote a culture of gender equality, dignity and respect within the college community by empowering students to advocate for gender justice, fostering an inclusive environment and addressing gender-based inequalities.

Roles and Responsibilities of a Gender Champion

The responsibilities of the Gender Champion include the following:

• To provide guidance on integrating gender perspectives into institutional activities through discussions, debates and competitions.
• To promote the Gender Champion Cell and undertake innovative initiatives such as developing a website or blog on gender equity, writing articles on gender-related issues and organizing film festivals, competitions and other events.
• To organize awareness programmes on gender-related issues through workshops, theme-based plays or films, painting competitions and discussions on relevant legislations and policies.
• To disseminate information on support services such as police helplines, women’s helplines, hospitals and other relevant agencies to students.
• To provide life skills education and guidance on access to public services to fellow students.
• To stay informed about and share knowledge on government schemes, legislations and court rulings that impact diverse and marginalized groups.
• To document and showcase best practices and positive behavior changes through exhibitions, festivals, newsletters or annual magazines.
