National Institutional Ranking Framework
Launched on 29 September 2015. the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is approved and adopted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India. The framework uses several parameters such as resources, research, and stakeholder perception for ranking of institutions across the country depending on their areas of operation like universities and colleges, engineering institutions, management institutions, pharmacy institutions and architecture institutions. The parameters have been grouped into five clusters and these clusters are assigned certain weightages that depend on the type of institution being ranked. The parameters broadly cover Teaching, Learning and Resources,Research and Professional Practices,Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception.
